Recently the WASCOP ( "Water Saving for Concentrated Solar Power") project of the European Horizon 2020 program started and with a significant participation of OMT Solutions. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 654479. The project is coordinated by CEA (France) and has participation of nine other partners from various countries: CIEMAT (Spain), DLR (Germany), Cranfield University (UK), Foundation Tekniker (Spain), MASEN (Morocco), Rioglass Solar (Spain), Archimede Solar Energy (Italy), Hamon D'Hondt (France) and Amirs (Czech Republic). The project, which began on January 1, 2016 and will run over four years, is funded entirely by the European Commission.

They partners will join their forces to develop and validate a flexible and adaptive integrated solution encompassing different innovative technologies and optimized strategies for both the cooling of the power-block and the cleaning of the solar field optical surfaces.
The WASCOP holistic solution will provide an effective combination of technologies adaptable to any solar field and power-block type and CSP plant location. WASCOP will allow a significant reduction in water consumption (up to 70% - 90%) and a significant improvement in the water management of CSP plants.

OMT Solutions role will be mainly focussed on the development and evaluation of soiling sensors that will be used for monitoring the solar field optical surfaces.

The project launch meeting was held on 11 and 12 January 2016 in Brussels. The meeting was attended by representatives of all partners in the project.
